Every year, as winter melts into spring, something magical happens in the East Bay hills—the mustard flowers begin to bloom. These golden fields are the perfect setting for lighthearted, joy-filled photo sessions full of laughter, movement, and genuine connection.
If you've ever dreamed of capturing this fleeting beauty with your loved ones, my East Bay Area Mustard Flower Photo Sessions are made for you.

What Is a Mustard Flower Mini Session?
A Mustard Flower Mini Session is a short and sweet version of a full photo session, set against the dreamy backdrop of yellow wildflowers that carpet the East Bay in late winter. These sessions are:
Perfectly timed during peak bloom (usually February–March)
Shorter in length and offered at a lower price point
Scheduled back-to-back with other sessions
Ideal for families, couples, maternity sessions, and high school seniors
It’s a beautiful way to preserve this special season—both in nature and in your life.

Where Do These Sessions Take Place?
I’m always scouting the most beautiful mustard-covered spots across the East Bay. Some of my favorite locations include:
Walnut Creek
Lafayette
Martinez
Clayton
Concord
I personally check each field before your session and will send you the exact location the week of your shoot to ensure we’re meeting at a place where the blooms are at their best.

What Should You Wear?
Your wardrobe plays a big part in the overall look and feel of your session. The golden mustard backdrop pairs beautifully with a variety of colors and styles. Here are a few tried-and-true favorites:
Light + Airy
Soft pastels like blush, sky blue, and cream pop beautifully against the yellow.
Earthy + Organic
Think rust, terracotta, sage, or mauve—grounded colors that add warmth and depth.
Bold + Rich
Jewel tones like emerald, deep plum, and navy bring a striking contrast to the golden fields.
Layering is also key! Cardigans, shawls, or lightweight sweaters not only keep you cozy but add gorgeous texture and movement to your photos.
And don’t worry—when you book, I’ll send over my detailed style guide and access to my online styling tool to help you pull everything together effortlessly.

Who Are These Sessions For?
Mustard flower minis are perfect for:
Families (especially those with young kids who thrive in a quick, playful session)
Expecting mamas
High school seniors looking for unique, seasonal portraits
Couples or “just because” photos
Mommy-and-me moments
Mini sessions move at a quicker pace, so they’re for groups of six or fewer and kids who warm up to the camera fairly quickly. If you know your little ones need more time—or you’d like a longer, more relaxed experience—I also offer full sessions in the mustard fields!
