10 Tips to Make the Most of Your Carondelet High School Senior Session

From your local East Bay senior photographer

Senior year is packed with once-in-a-lifetime memories—from pep rallies and prom to college decisions and heartfelt goodbyes. As a Carondelet High School senior photographer, I’ve had the joy of documenting this exciting season for amazing young women and their families. If you’re planning your senior photo session, I’m here to make it feel fun, meaningful, and totally stress-free.

Whether you're a parent feeling all the emotions or a senior who wants to create something uniquely “you,” these tips will help you feel prepped and ready to shine.

1. Prep the Night Before

A little preparation goes a long way. Lay out your outfits (shoes, accessories, and any props), steam or iron anything that needs it, and double-check that everything’s packed and ready to go. It’ll make the day feel smooth and stress-free so you can focus on the fun.

2. Choose 2–3 Outfits for Variety

More than one outfit gives you a beautiful mix of looks in your final gallery. Think: a polished casual outfit, something a little more dressed up, and something that tells the story of what’s next (college sweatshirt, sports jersey, or even a favorite tee). I’ll help guide you with styling support, an online tool, and access to my curated client closet.

3. Bring a Prop That Represents You

What’s been a meaningful part of your high school journey? Maybe it's a musical instrument, your favorite book, a pair of running shoes, or your letterman jacket. Including personal items like these brings out your story and makes your photos uniquely yours.

4. Trust the Process (Even If It Feels Awkward at First)

It’s totally normal to feel a little unsure when we start. Most people do! I treat the first 10–15 minutes as a warm-up—we’ll ease in together and before you know it, we’ll be laughing, twirling, and creating images that reflect your real personality.

5. Bring Your Hype Squad

Having someone you trust—your mom, sister, or best friend—can make the whole session even better. They’ll help with outfit changes, cheer you on, and maybe even crack a few jokes behind the camera. Some of my favorite smiles come from seniors reacting to someone just off to the side doing something ridiculous!

6. Consider the Season

Each season in the East Bay has its own beauty. Spring is popular around Carondelet for its green hills and wildflowers, while Fall gives you that golden glow and cozy vibe, and Summer gives you that carefree, sun-kissed look. I’ll help you choose the perfect location and time of year to match your style and vision.

7. Add a Sentimental Touch

Want to make your session extra special? Consider bringing something with deep meaning—a note from a loved one, a necklace passed down through generations, or something that connects you to a favorite memory. These details make your photos even more powerful and personal.

8. Prioritize Skincare and Rest

Drink water, moisturize, and aim for a good night’s sleep the day before your session. Feeling well-rested helps you look and feel your best in front of the camera. Keep your skincare simple and avoid trying anything new right before your shoot.

9. Celebrate the Experience

Your senior session is more than a photoshoot—it’s a celebration of everything you’ve accomplished. Plan something fun before or after—coffee with a friend, dinner with your family, or even just time to journal or reflect. Soak in the moment!

10. Preserve the Memories of your Carondelet High School Senior Photos

Once you receive your gallery, you’ll have the option to order beautiful prints and keepsake photo books. These are perfect for graduation parties, family gifts, or simply bringing a smile every time you flip through them.
